Things you might do in your internship

General Accounting Internship

  • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Documents financial transactions by entering account information.
  • Recommends financial actions by analysing accounting options.
  • Summaries current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statements, and other reports.
  • Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
  • Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
  • Guides accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions.
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information.
  • Secures financial information by completing database backups.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
  • Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements.

Financial Analyst Internship

  • Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; studying proposed changes in methods and materials.

  • Increases productivity by developing automated accounting applications; coordinating information requirements.
    – Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
    – Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Management Accounting Internship

  • Assist in the reconciliation and preparation of month-end management accounts for clients, including

    (but not limited to): Income reconciliations and FX position reconciliations

  • Assist in the preparation of month end reports for clients, including (but not limited to):

    ○ Analysis of actual vs. budgeted month-to-date and year-to-date results

    ○ Review of invoice coding in Xero and follow-up of any issues with book-keepers

  • Preparation of commentary for any material variances

  • Update of the full year forecast based on actual year-to-date trending and results

  • Preparation of month end reporting packs and dashboards
